Hi,

We are finally moving to Massachusetts in August, and staying with family in Arlington while looking for a place. Since we will be enrolling our older kids in Arlington school district, I was hoping to find a preschool for my 4 year old in or around Arlington. My child will be attending Kindergarten the following year so I would like specifically a Pre-K class. It does not need to be in Arlington, but close enough to not have to drive far. Also cost is a major concern since we are moving and would like to save $$ where we can.

If anyone has had experience or knows of a great preschool in the area, that would help our transition so much.

Very excited!
Thank you.

A.

Many preschools in the area. Most will be pricey unless affiliated with the church which tends to cost less money.
By this time most of them will have wait list. I know of three less expensive places in Belmont, that are well regarded.
One is in Payson Park Church on Payson Park Rd in Belmont, another in Lutheran Church on Belmont St. and third is Belmont Co-Op Nursery Preschool on School St (I think). Co-op will mean that you will have to show up often and help around, hence the reduced price. It is not for the working parent. Arlington has one and very popular as well, in Boys and Girls Club, but I am not sure of the costs. Hope it helps you.

My kids go to a Lexington co-op and its wonderful. I highly recommend. I toured the Belmont co-op mentioned by the PP and it seemed very well run.

[mod]not allowed, read TOS[/mod] My twins attended the Sudbury Cooperative Preschool and they/we had a wonderful experience! It's a wonderful introduction to school for the children, and a great way to get to know other families. Our tagline was "Where Families Experience Learning Together" and it was true that everyone was involved.

Boys and Girls Club in Arlington offers very good programs and also very affordable. Belmont preschools are booked years in advance. Tons of Belmont parents do flock to Arlington B&G Club so sign up soon since the places do fill up fast.
They also offer other reasonably priced activities for kids.
