Living in eastern mass. will shorten you life, being around negative, cursing, impatient people. Don't ever move here unless you want to turn into a *****.

There are negative people and positive people. Negative people look at the glass half empty. Positive people look at the glass half full. After living in MA for a while, many have the attatude of probert.

I grew up in MA and moved to NC 4 years ago. Do I miss it? Yeah, I do from time to time and so I make the trip home, get my dose and come back to NC. I miss my friends, I miss the snow from time to time and occassionally I just want to flip someone off just cuz it feels good.

The food!
I miss the food!
I didn't realize how good the food was in New England, until I moved. It is also difficult to get New England food in another part of the country.
What I would give for a clam fritter!
I've tried to make them, and I'm a good cook, but no matter what recipe I try, I just can't replicate it.
New England shore dinners, lobstah rolls, Indian pudding, fresh haddock and cod decent fish and chips...
It's been about ten years, and I really miss the food.
You can only eat so much grits, greens and cornbread. (I'm in Tennessee.) I use to live in Florida. I hate grouper! And both states heavily rely on chain restaurants.
Could someone just send me a clam fritter? Or a decent recipe? LOL!

If you go to the site Lobster Anywhere you can have all kinds of different seafood packed and shipped right to your door. They also have a "New England Recipes" area on their site that you can click on for all different kinds of neat seafood recipes, they look quite good too!
Good luck!

In New England, you don't see doublewides, singlewides and every car or tractor they've ever owned in their front yard. New England has "zoning" which is a foreign word in parts of the south and mid-Atlantic. Rude is getting in your face about religion in the south. You won't catch a New Englander asking you, "Have you found a church yet?". You won't see 20' high "crosses" on the back roads screaming "Blood of the Lord, Save Us"; "Mark of the Beast", etc. In New England there is a strange phenomenon called: refinement. Go to a big city anywhere, and you'll get arrogance. If you think Boston is "dirty", head south if you want to see true trash and dirt. Miss Mass. ? every day.

I miss Massachusetts. I left in January of '06 for San Antonio, Tx. I can honestly say I fell in love with the people, the culture and THE WEATHER, but there are a few things I definitely miss. I miss the foliage, summertime on the Cape & islands, the food, and most of all authenticity. I l ove San ANtonio but it is really lacking in authenticity OF ANTHING. Every retaurant is a chain. The strip malls and endless line of fast food restaurants make it seem like a town with no soul. THe Mexican culture is so warm, though. I don't miss paying a state income tax and I love living with so few bills to pay every month! People don't cuss as much down here either , which I've had a hard time getting used to (LOL). Overall, I don't have any regrets, and aside from the high cost of living and the weather, I'd move back in a second. Neither of those things seem to be going anywhere, though! Anyone elso out ther elive in in the Alamo City???

Will I Miss MA?
After wrestling with where to live back in Ma.(Newton,Westford,Westborough)I found a little town in Rochester,NY called Pittsford. It cost have the price of the areas I mentioned but much newer w/air-conditioning and land. The schools are in the top 50 in the US and it is next to the Finger Lakes and the Eerie Canal. My question is since the taxes are higher in New York and less in Ma., does it equal out for the same type of property? Has anyone been to Pittsford or Brighton, NY and can compare it to smaller suburbs in Ma. near Boston? If we move to Pittsford will I be sorry I didn't move to the Boston area again? We are a family of three w/a teenage boy going in 9th grade...my husband is self-employed but wants to grow his business by opening an office in or near a city and currently stay home and take care of four dogs and my son when he gets home from school. We love to walk close to home to shops, restaurants, community activities but not too far from a city. I know I've asked before but I need all the advice and experience from others as possible. Oh, we currently live in So. Cal.
