Homeowners is twice as much as Swampscott, and the cost of electricity for almost year round air-conditioner surpasses what we paid for oil during colder months. Can't wait to leave this place. No real history, culture or sense of place. The houses in this town are overpriced and poorly built. Too bad the real estate market has crumbled in Fla, or we would have been gone long ago. I do miss the seasons, and especially the smell of the air in October. Don't miss the commute to Boston, or the city itself, as the Big Dig ruined it. Looking to head out west next, maybe Colorado or Utah. But as we said in the military...'you never go back'. So Mass. is just a place of memories now.
Celebration is not a real town. I saw an episode on, of all shows, This Old House 10 years ago. At the time the concept appealed to me very much because there is a town center ringed by houses and neighborhoods that are built with pedestrians in mind. Then I realized that you can't just forcefully plop down a "town" in the middle of the swamp and hope that it takes. Cities are meant to to be grown organically.

Colorado is nice. If you're an outdoorsy person, go by all means. If you're in a university town such as Boulder or Fort Collins, then you'll get your share of cultural events -- if you're not looking for world-renowned gallery openings. My level of culture was being satisfied with having the Kronos Quartet visit once in a while.

I must miss Massachusetts more then I realized because several times a week I have a dream about it. One area in particular. I seem to be going over how this area looked when I lived there and in my dream construction and widening the road has changed it so completely I feel disoriented in my dream. In reality very little has changed.

I always dream one of our families favorite ice cream places, The Sterling Ice Cream bar. They also have other food, in fact the BEST onion rings I have ever had in my life.

So you live in the area? The Sterling Ice Cream bar is on route 62, I just looked it up. The actual address is 167 Clinton road, Sterling Mass. Its right above where Sterling Road meets Clinton road or otherwise known as route 62.

SO it looks like its still there.

Of course there is also Land Lord Bens a little further up the road headed into Leominster, they had the BEST brunch from what I can remember. The Sheraton Boxborough was also excellent. Then of course some of the best Italian was at Monty's Garden in Leominster.

Welcome to Kimball Farm

Try this place for the BEST ice cream, don't eat all day and then get the Kimballs special, its AWESOME !!

Oh My YES!!! I miss the 4 seasons and a white Christmas. I am from the Mountains of Ma. and if I could convince my hubby, I would move back in a second. I moved to NC, then to Fla now I am back in NC, so maybe I can inch my way back North.

I found myself looking at the town I lived in, in Mass over Google Satelite images. I could see that very little had changed in comparison with how much has changed in Texas in 20 years.

I am planning a trip up there, maybe next summer. I know as I get closer, the tears will start to roll down my face in happiness for being back home again.

I'm going back to MA this year for thanksgiving. Always look forward to it because it's a great time to see any changes. I moved from MA in 1993 to CA. Moved from CA in 2006 to TX. Currently live in Central TX.

White Christmas can be cool if I had Jeeves warming up and de-icing my Range Rover and shoveling my drive way. For the normal working stiffs, it just means a lot more work during the winter when days are already short and time is at a premium because of all the holiday stuff.

I have lived California, and while I did miss the leaves turning golden, I could still replicate some of that feeling by riding my MTB in the mountains because I could see the Aspens' fall colors. They are spectacular as well.
