Guess I should have made it more clear that while I NOW live in NH, I moved 1500 miles away from New England for 5 years, then discovered when I moved back here that Massachusetts just no longer suited my family... MA and NH might share a border, but historically they're worlds apart in their political climate, tax burden and the ability for citizens to make decisions that affect only themselves (seatbelt laws, helmet laws, etc). These are just a part of the difference of 2 states.
Unfortunately, with so many people being unable to afford to live in Massachusetts, more folks seem to be finding their way up here for the 'more affordable real estate', but continuing to live and vote the same way they always did in Mass. Without considering the consequences, they're going to put NH into the same mess that Mass. is in, with out-of-control state spending, ever-increasing fees, taxes and control over personal choices. 3 terms of fiscally irresponsible leadership in NH has resulted in record deficit in this state...

I was in MA for 4 1/2 years (college & a short time after) and miss it quite a bit. I have a higher cost of living now, as I live in northern New Jersey. If I was really unhappy at work here, I'd definitely consider moving back. Every now & then, I do start to consider it.

I don't miss it because I live here now. I don't think it's the place you miss but rather a set of friends, a set of favorite activities that suit your lifestyle, and a general agreement with the political leaning of the population.
I moved here 1.5 years ago, and I have been working insane hours at work and on my professional certification, so I haven't had the time to make new friends or do much of my favorite activities such as dancing, cycling, and hiking. I would say that the political climate here suits me more than, say, would eastern Texas.

I lived in MA for 7 years. What a socialist hell hole. New taxes, laws, and bans every other day. Political corruption and state pensions that will eventually bankrupt the state.
The only purpose of the state government is figuring out ways to support itself. With a state government made up of 90% democrats it's no wonder the tax burden is high as well as the crime rate.
Stay classy Massachusetts.

I now live in Florida, I love the heat, the ocean, the warm weather MOST of the time but I am thinking long term of moving back to Mass. Once I finish my nursing degree in a couple years but keeping my house here which is paid for.
I miss my friends that I have known since I was in 1st grade, I miss so much, it would be too much to write down. I don't have a family other then my daughter so I feel pretty on my own. I wonder at times if moving back to Mass would make things better in the long run.

Currently I'm living slightly north of Massachuestts, I wanted to settle in NH when I was transferred to this area back on 1990 by my employer. I was sidetracked by a lovely lady who wound up marrying me and delaying my goal. There are a couple of things which struck me when I moved up here.
First the budget for the town here is less than the school budhet of the town where we were living in Ma, and the schools here are much better. Kinda makes you wonder where the $$ goes.
Secondly the quality of life here. There is a greater sense of communinty here. My son is in the Scouts and the town really turned out for the Spagetti supper the Scouts put on. The volunteerism is much greater when there is a community clean up which needs to be done. Won't find that degree of participation in Mass either.
...and then there are the little things like personal liberties.
Life is much, much better up here.

I miss it every day of my life and can't wait to get back for good. Nothing compares to MA or New England. Nothing.

I agree with you 100%!!! I'm leaving the 27th of this month to go back to Whitman, MA for my 50th Class Reunion and I can't wait!!! We're having it in Plymouth which will be fun!!! I know Whitman is a "do nothing" town, but I grew up there and still love it!!!!!
I love MA! I love New England and "Everything" it offers!!! I try to get back there every year for a visit!!!!!
