Thank you for this info- I had ruled out lines into North Station, but it seems to be completely doable according to many of you. Whew- we might have to do this in two trips- too many areas to explore!

I can't comment on commute times but in Franklin listed right now their is a new construction 2500sqft home for $569000 and a 3038 sqft for $639900. You will also see alot of homes on .5 + lots. There are also alot of stores in the area.

You should try Watertown or Belmont. 73 bus to red line in Harvard sq very quickly from Belmont and 71 from Watertown to red line in Harvard sq. East Watertown is a lot closer though. You should do a bing search for recently sold homes, which I'm sure you have. If you're ok with commuter rail though, parking up in Woburn, Reading may suit. Just beware of the home owner taxes around the area, because they vary widely. Watertown has Target, malls, etc. you are looking for with smaller town feel. Also, just looked back and you said the commute was to Kendall. Definitely look around these areas.
