A college art museum is not the same as the Fogg, the Isabella Stewart Gardner and the MFA. Boston has all of those and good galleries as well.

Probably hopeless to post this in this forum. So many here only care about money and whether everyone is spelling and pronouncing every word to their specifications. It's given me a whole new perspective on Mass, which I used to quite like.

I never claimed Smith's art museum is the equivalent of any big city one; it's not, of course. It's one of the best small art museums in the state, that's all, and is acknowledged as such.

As for the spelling issue: doesn't everyone want their name, or their town's name, spelled correctly? If not, I apologize. I certainly don't think my persnicketiness should be a reason to dislike the whole state of Mass.

Otherwise, we'd seem to have pretty much everything you'd want.

I was also thinking of Northampton. It meets your requirements quite well. The Florence and Leeds sections of Northampton are on the quieter side while still being close to the artsy downtown area.

Amherst isn't bad, but does have a very large student population. So depending on where you live, there may be some loud house parties on the weekends.

I apologize, tovarisch; I was responding to a lot of recent posts, not really just to yours.

I'm finding the whole process of relocation quite discouraging for a variety of reasons. Makin' me cranky, I guess.

Apology accepted. Let us know how to help with the relocation.

Newburyport, Salem, Ipswich, Amesbury. It is not cheap here in MA though. Rents/homes are high now.

Seems North Shore suburbs fit this criteria best.

Stick to the north or south shores.
