We always had the squash pie from Table Talk bakery in Worcester. Milder taste than pumpkin.

If you use canned "pumpkin," it's really butternut squash most of the time, due to the flexible definition of "pumpkin."

Pumpkin. Nobody I know has squash pie.

BTW, they also sell canned squash for pies (the "One Pie" brand, I believe). I've seen it in a few stores. It's lighter in color and not as heavy as the pumpkin. I sometimes add it to our dogs' kibble for bulk. It's also cheaper than pumpkin. They love it.

Donewithpretty, enjoyed this fun fact. Always wondered why my natural from the pumpkin pie was so much heavier than the kind made from the can.

We're having pumpkin and sweet potatoe pie this year.

Can't tell you if it's going to be real pumpkins or fake pumpkins as my in-laws are bringing it. But knowing them, it'll be store bought.

PUMPKIN ! Although a sweet potato pie is good too. Squashes are for just that, squashing them on the ground with a tasteless eggplant, 2 of the most horrible vegetables ever grown !

The two are different. Squash pie is made of butternut while the usual is made of pumpkin. Hmmmm I love squash pie especially the one cooked by mom. I love her so

My grandma was from TN. She always fixed sweet potato pie and squash pie. She used acorn squash. Both are 2 of my 3 favorite kinds of pies. Pecan pie is the other. Key lime pie is something we just recently discovered in the last 5 or 10 years. It's my 4th favorite.

Both acorn squash and sweet potatoes are good just to slice 'em and put some butter and brown sugar in 'em and put 'em the microwave, or in the oven and bake 'em.
