Hello.

I will be transferring a drivers license from California to Massachusetts.

I saw that part of the requirements when applying is to include a driver record from your previous state.
http://www.massrmv.com/rmv/dmanual/chapter_1.pdf

My last state was TX. I registered my plates but didn't get a license. I assume it will be OK to just get my drivers record from CA?

Is the drivers record a must-have? I'm going to have to wait to get the official drivers record mailed to me from CA now which could take a while.

Thanks!

You don't need a driving record. I just needed proof of residency and proof of identity. And money.

Thanks. Well that's good news. Strange that they do they have it as a requirement on their docs site though...

Or under the age of 18.

Prepare everything in advance. If you make an online appointment with the RMV, you don't have to wait in line for hours.

Getting a driver's license was easy. Getting your car registered and insured is another story. I don't remember specifics, but it was a back and forth process to the RMV and insurance company because you have to do it in a certain order. Do some research online or over the phone before you waste your time driving to one or the other.

Easy. Did the same thing earlier this year, brought my CA license, the form, a real piece of mail (I used a W-2), and money. In and out in... 60 minutes or so. The RMV is probably more efficient than the DMV
