About 3-4 months ago (it certainly could have been around longer than that), I first noticed an unusual smell every time I drove along I-95/128, near exit 44 (link is to map of the area), close to where they split apart at exit 45. I'd describe it like a pine smell and originally thought that it was related to some trees being cut, but it's something that's been noticeable almost every time I drive by the area.

I'm just curious--does anyone know what it is? Is it related to something in nature, a factory, something else?

There's a big bark mulch processing plant right there west of 95. It was the site of a big fire a few years ago.

A-ha! That sounds exactly right--maybe it's Northeast Nursery? Thanks for satiating my curiosity!

I95 is a big highway. Which part of it are you referring to?

It is the site of a former landfill that was closed about 15 - 20 years ago. It still stinks.
