Does anyone know if the store shut down? I was there only a few weeks ago. I tried a store location search at Ace Hardware's website but this Wellesley store isn't listed anymore. I was going to order something for pickup at that store.

I was curious about this myself, so I just gave them a call. They are still open, but they changed their internal Ace Hardware store # which explains why their location isn't showing up on the website. Ace Hardware corporate still needs to update the store # in their database before customers can locate/ship-to the Wellesley location. The cashier told me they can take orders from inside the store if you want something on their website that's not in-stock. Free shipping.

I would have been really surprised if the store had closed. They do a pretty good business in Wellesley.

Glad to read this. I don't live in the area but we have 2 Aubuchon and 1 Ace Hardware in our town. I love small town hardware stores!

Thanks, Parsec. Great info. I hope Ace fix the database soon but good to know the store hasn't closed up.

I'm the opposite - I don't like small town hardware stores (I don't consider Ace to be a small town hardware store) because their hours generally mirror the traditional 8-5 workday. This means they cater towards contractors who need to stop in to get something while in the middle of a job. I do my shopping at 8 or 9pm during the week or on the weekend when these types of stores are closed.

Our Aubuchon stores are pretty big but the Ace Anchor Hardware is a small store that feels very Mom & Pop. They keep a card file with your paint projects and the employees are long term people who recognize you when you come in. I've seen more modern ACE store- this isn't one of them. Funny the hours are 8-5 in your area. Ace here is open 7 am to 8 pm. They definitely cater to homeowners and contractors but I am sure part of it is people are pretty loyal to small town stores here.

The Ace has better hours - probably the same as yours. But I was talking about Town Line Hardware (the Sudbury-Wayland local hardware store) when I was saying 8-5. I can see the draw of going to a store where the employees know you though. If only the hours were as convenient as Home Depot which is open until 10pm
