Default Has anyone on this forum just moved to Mass..

...with no place to stay? Does anyone know a motel or a place to stay for a reasonable price, respectable of course, on the outskirts of Boston area, for about a month, while looking for a place to stay? Flying up to check things out gets expensive after a while. Please, I would appreciate any help!!

I'm sorry, I'm not at all familiar with the Boston area. But when we moved to NJ a few years ago, we stayed at an Extended Stay hotel for 3 weeks while we were waiting to close on our house. It was fairly reasonably priced and very clean. Hopefully someone on the Mass. forum will be able to help you narrow down a location. Hope this helps!

Extended Stay Hotels owns and operates more than 600 long-term hotels across America.

Sue, I would try a Residence Inn at Marriott. I stayed in one of their efficiencies while on Long Island and highly recommend it. I believe there's one in Cambridge and probably many other locations, as well. Just google it and I'm sure you'll find one.
The one I stayed in had a full-sized refrigerator, cooktop, microwave, dishes, dishwasher, breakfast bar with stools, etc. That saved a lot of money on eating out.

We moved here in early October and stayed in the Homestead Suites in Burlington. It's what I would call 'cheap and cheerful' even though it's pretty expensive compared to rent! Each suite has cable TV, a fridge, microwave, oven, sink, coffee maker, wireless internet (very slow!) etc. They have laundry facilities on site but you do have to pay for them. I was very glad to get into the house we rent now, but that was more due to going a little stir crazy than anything wrong with the suite.

You might want to advertise in Craigslist.Boston for temporary housing in the want ads or search in rentals if anyone is willing to do a short term rental. That would be your cheapest option. Good luck.

quincy is a great
location to boston as for hotels and motels then you will find massachusetts very expensive to north carolina, in quincy you won't get anything under 90$ and that's for a motel which is quite shabby

all depends what you refer to as cheap I look at anything above 70 as expensive but you won't find anything that cheap around, even the local dives will be more however if you find 120$ cheap then you will have much more luck in finding a place

good luck

I stayed at the extended stay in waltham. Pretty good location, right on 128/95 and near 90 so whatever direction you look in should be somewhat of a straight shot. I booked through hotwire.com and got a really good deal including a rental car that was cheaper than most other hotels I could find w/o a car. They had the whole kitchen thing as mentioned previously and wireless was $5 for your whole stay no matter how long, can't beat that. Not sure on the laundry situation as I was only there a week. Just my 2 cents, good luck!

I would avoid the south shore or west of Boston, just too much traffic.
the Extended Stay located up in Peabody on US 1 (northside) is a great location as route 128 is the main highway that goes all arond Boston is also nearby.
