Default Newburyport cheaper apartments?

Hi

I may be moving to Newburyport for a job in the next few months. I'm a recent college grad and on a very tight budget. What is my best bet for a small apartment, around $600/month? Newburyport, Amesbury..? other surrounding areas? I want something quiet and safe, but I don't mind driving to work - 30 minutes tops though. I'd LOVE to live in downtown Newburyport and walk to work (around State St.) but I'm not sure about the prices. Does anyone have any experience?

Thanks!
Elyse

Hi Elyse
Newburyport is most likely going to be more expensive than other surrounding towns. I'd check Salisbury & Amesbury, consider Haverhill as well, the outskirts of town are very nice and many beautiful Victorian homes have been converted to condo's, some of which may be available at any given time. There are several on the MLS (none for $600 a month) so maybe you could check craigslist.com and maybe try to get into a roommate situation.
