Where did I say that? I said a relatively small year-round population. Maybe I should have qualified that: "As opposed to other areas north of us". We're considered a "rural" community. Rural generally means smaller populations.
Vero, when you're ready, let me know!

Hey Cathy, I stand corrected, I apologize. When I read (has a relatively small community), in Massachusetts that has been well known to mean the snowbirds. Sorry, I assumed that you knew that. I wish you well in your real esate sales. Not looking to bring down your sales. I truly thought that this thread was about informing someone of what I know of the area. I regret getting you angry, that was not my intention. Wish you a good day. Ciao

It takes a lot more than that to get me angry. And I do know what snowbirds are. It's my business to know. Your perceptions of Cape Cod and it's population, both year-round and seasonal, make me think you don't know as much about it as you say you do. And I posted this thread with the intention of "informing someone what I know about the area". Good, bad or indifferent, knowing full well that it may deter a few people. But I knew that quite a few had an interest and posted in the interest of honesty.
And, may I point out once again, that you did not publish this article on this forum?

Again, making you angry was not my intention and I do apologize that you are that upset. Sorry, truly.
We frequent Dino's all the time. We see alot sox & pats there. Good place to hang out. I use to go cherrystones, but it burnt to the ground. The Barnstable fairgrounds was a place we use to go to every year, but kids are older now, stop gng. BBC on the waterfront is a place we also frequent. We watch the fireworks down of the Maravista area every 4th of july. Great place to watch them. Family has a boat in Great Bay and we do washburn every good weekend. I love the Cape. Great times and memories. Golden sails, had some good drinks there, lol. My family knows all the back roads, so during the summer traffic really isn't a problem.
Christ the King Church in Mashpee is a beautiful contemporary styled church. I've been to christenings, confirmations, a wedding, x-mas masses there. Nice choir.
Mashpee commons has good shopping and I like the 99 restaurant there. I'm sorry you think I was lying about knowing the area, I really do and it is a place that my husband and I hang around a lot.
Enough said, hey we may even bump into you down there, lol, wouldn't that be a hoot.
We're wishing you a good day!

I am only commenting to the above title of this thread, "Cancer study on Cape Cod ." Not intending to offend or drag any previous posters into sparring. I visit the Cape often, but would I live there? No!
There is enough info out there that would make a buyer be leary of purchasing a home on the upper Cape. I have family who have died of a cancer in that area that may be linked to the the Otis base case study. So do I take a personal interest in it, yes I do. Time will only tell. There is a map that highlights the areas of concern on the internet.
Parts of Falmouth, Sandwich, Bourne and Masphee are seriously clustered on the map.
Just a FYI. If I was buying a home, I would greatly appreciate someone giving me a headsup. Then I do my homework and decide from there.
For most of us, our home is our biggest investment and I would want my return on my investment. My families health is the first consideration, 2nd would be my resale value.

You two seem to have a thing going but if you don't mind, I'm going to interject again... I'm headed for Mashpee and I can't wait. If I let fear rule my life, i'd be hunkered down in the midwest somewhere in a cornfield.

Hey Vero,
I saw the title of the thread and know of the area, that's why posted. I thought it was an open thread to add to.
I did not realize it was a thread for you and cathy, sorry to have butt in...
You have made a choice that you are comfortable with. Best wishes on your move and welcome to the Cape, it is a beautiful area of Massachusetts.
