Default Typical NE "upscale" town in northern MA

I am looking for a typical "New England", kind of upscale charming town in northern MA max. 2 hrs driving distance to Logan airport. Schools are out of consideration, most important is the above and also natural beauty (rolling hills, lakes, etcc.), if possible.
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I would suggest Newburyport- actually only an hour or less to Logan, which lies to the north- also the town of Ipswich, to the south, and also Hamilton and South Hamilton- all more coastal then what you may desire- but charming places to live.

Petersham is lovely. About 1.5 hours to Logan. Beautiful homes, quiet but classy. Near the Quabbin Res.

Newburyport is a beautiful town, but the downtown area has become somewhat of a "destination" town, tons of visitors from all over, weekends are very busy. I actually preferred Newburyport 5-10 years ago when it was just as nice, just not as popular.

Towns nearby that might be more suitable and peak your interest are West Newbury, Georgetown, Boxford, Topsfield, Andover. Closer to the coast you might want to consider Manchester by the Sea & Beverly.

These town are well within the 2 hours to Logan

Default Groton

Groton seems a very patrician town with nice scenery. I second on Petersham, Ipswich, and Newburyport. Also on the coast, Newbury and Rowley are very scenic. Consider also the two Phillips Academy towns, Andover, MA and Exeter, NH. Why not Concord? Also Harvard, Carlisle, Bolton, Westford. Princeton, MA is a scenic and upscale place. A bit farther west than Petersham is Northfield, one of many beautiful Connecticut Valley towns, although from there you'd be closer to Bradley Field than to Logan.

2hrs... you basically covers the entire state.

Rolling hills? I'm not sure where there are rolling hills... Wellesley Hills? Blue Hills? Worcester (7 hills)? I think Berkshire Hills may be closes to what you are looking.

Lakes? Most of MA has is just ponds and reservoir... Lake Cochituate?

May be you should consider New Hampshire instead? There is a lakes region.

I second (or third) the North Shore town suggestions. Manchester-By-The-Sea, Rockport, Newburyport, Rowley, Ipswich. All are beautiful and within your range for Logan. Manchester NH airport is not all that far either as an alternative.
