I even recall a few years ago helping a friend move in May and it was snowing outside.

I remember WALKING to school, etc. in the snow. I lived too far from school to be bussed (5 miles). Had to either get a ride from mom or walk. Guess what I did MOST of the year. LOL! You're right just because it's april doesn't mean winter's over.

where in GA I wouldn't mind moving to GA, it's really quite cheap
we moved form mass and one of the reasons was because of the weather along with other things like wacky politics
One lady i talked to moved from florida to NH and her pipes were frozen, I bet she will be moving in a few months
many of the people Iknow IN masswant to high tail out of there, they really have had enough and yet there's months of this freezing cold weather

You know what Neil, I have lived in sunny Southern California all of my life where there really is only one season, warm and less warm. I'm just teasing about the snow..I actually love it and miss it when it stops. Never having a change in the weather or seasons gets very mundane, especially after 45 years, for me at least. Talk to me in about four years and maybe I might feel different, but by then we can live wherever we want because my son will be at college. I actually can picture us staying here even then, just closer to the city. Enjoy the holidays everyone. Looks like it will be a white one!

Neil: I think you'll find that most people in Atlanta think the same as in Boston -- they just want to get out. Have you been on the Atlanta forums? I think there are more posts complaining about Atlanta than there are posts on here complaining about Boston. I think it's the same everywhere -- people just want a change of scenery after awhile. Give it a few years and you'll want to move somewhere like Seattle =)

Puffle: I think it's snowed more this winter than in the past TWO years combined, hehe. The first couple winters I was here, I didn't think anything of the snow -- it was about what I was used to growing up in NJ. But if the past week is a sign of what's to come in Mass, I'm dreading it. I agree w/smarty: I'm home right now and I have to clean the cars and dig them out of snow twice a day when it snows. Then I need to spend another hour digging out out again when it's time to drive (damn those snow plows).

Again, welcome to New England. This is about it until late April, maybe even early May. We can and usually do have a short "January thaw" where the temps can hit upper 50's and 60 and everyone goes absolutely nutso because it's so warm. But other than that, well it's small snowstorm, "dusting", Nor'Easter, mid sized storm, ice, etc, in any permutation and combination from here on out. Oh, and sprinkled in with that will be excruitiating wind chills.
Unless the wind chill is at or below zero, we're usually outside as usual. The kids seem to have more of a tolerance for it than I do.
Wait until Spring (which usually arrives mid-May) which is formally referred to as "mud season". The snow melts, the ground is soft and everyone tracks through the mud everywhere. It's disgusting!

Looks like we got out in time that year. We moved back to California in August of that year. Guess it's payback time!

It is melting a bit here today
snow and a heavy crusting of ice----looks like a White Christmas in most of New England.
