Cool Let it snow?

I thought it was only suppose to snow about an inch last night and today? The cars in our parking lot have a few inches on their roofs. Someone told me yesterday that Ma. didn't have this much snow last year, total. Could this be what we have to look forward to till April? Do most of you stay inside, if you are not working, when it snows?

As they say... if you don't like the weather in New England, just wait a little and it will change. If you do like the weather, you better enjoy it for it will not last.

Nope... we shovel snow.

welcome to massachusetts puffle. we definitely did not get this much snow last year but every year is different. gosh i remember a few years ago when we got hit with snow storm after snow storm. the mounds on both sides of my driveway were so tall I couldn't see over them for months (seriously). we got our first snow storm in october and it went downhill from there. Since I've lived here my entire life unless it's a blizzard the snow doesn't keep me inside all day long. i do drive much slower though and i give myself ample time to get anywhere and i try and remain patient when looking for parking spots.

I can't wait to move to VA.

Surfingatwork...before we moved to Ma. we had lived in Northern Virginia. There is no perfect place. It's just whatever suits you best. For us, we couldn't stand the high humidity so bad that you can barely breathe, the traffic, worse than here, the constant rain, almost every week, and the republicans. But hopefully, these are things that you can live with.

After being up there for 2 back to back storms while town-hunting, and now your view, I have to ask:

WHAT IN GOD'S NAME HAVE WE GOTTEN OURSELVES INTO??????

I hope Santa brings me snowshoes for Christmas.

Try to enjoy it, otherwise we'll end up in the looney bin!

In recent years, it's been a struggle to have a white Christmas. I remember when I lived in Sudbury and Concord, we had snowy winters and I shoveled the driveway a lot. This snow makes my boyfriend (a former Floridian) very happy.

It's a pretty snowfall this morning!

Default Typical

This year so far seems to be more in line with the winters I "used to know" - walking uphill both ways to and from school, etc...which was actually possible using a circuitous route...anyway:

The past couple of years have seen very little snow. One or two decent-sized storms that amount to not much more than nuisance snow. Just enough to make your commute miserable and to throw your back out shoveling, but then it melts in a day or two. Not this year, it seems.

I don't know if it will be like this until April; then again, the April Fools' day blizzard in '96 was quite the kick in the butt to keep on our toes around here, and never assume that winter is over just because it's April. I even recall a few years ago helping a friend move in May and it was snowing outside.

we're moving to the hampton roads area (we're looking at surry county, smithfield, york county, certain parts of hampton and suffolk and gloucester county). humidity doesn't bother us/me. My dogs on the other hand are not going to be happy but we'll have a/c. I don't have a/c at my house now. have you driven into boston during rush hour? i used to drive from southeastern mass to south boston every day and it took me 1.5 hours and that was on a good day (45 miles). i now drive the same distance but up 495 and it takes me 45 minutes. wait until spring then the rain will come. I'm definitely not looking at this move through rose colored glasses. If you can share any information on the areas we're looking at feel free to pm me.

I'm reading this and laughing my butt off. We moved from central MA to GA in Aug...and this is one of the reasons why. Snow and cold from early Dec through April.....ya'll (that's Georgian for you guys) have fun with it. It was almost 80 degrees here last week.
