Default Salem!

I was there in October, the weekend 19 - 22 and loved it! The history was great, there is more than the witch trials but that is just as interesting, the food was great, the people were pleasant and unless it was just the weekend I visited I noticed a lot of people around my age (17/18 - 23). Nice, good looking, pleasant place. I also don't remember it smelling bad. Is it that populated during the off-halloween season?

I lived in Salem many years ago and just visited again this past summer. I found it to be very congested with traffic. It's very much a tourist destination in the summer. But I still loved it!

History and the coastline. The marina is very busy in the summer. The little shops and antique stores are also an attraction.

When I lived there, Salem was still resisting the connection to the Witch Trials so the traffic wasn't as bad. I saw many more condos when I was there over the summer, too. Over the past several years, the city finally gave up and embraced the connection and capitalized on it. I'm sure once you get outside the heavy traffic/tourist areas, it probably still has the neighborhood feel to it.
