Thanks Valerie, it would definitely be worse to be in that situation (coming BACK and being priced out!) I think. St Louis has come a long way just in the 4 years I've been here and one day I think, could be a really nice place. I rarely go into St. Louis proper though since Kirkwood is the STL equivalent of probably Reading I would guess.

I'm still looking at Londonderry or Derry, but I'm hearing that coming in from Newbury, Newburyport, or the Exeter area on 95 might be another option as well. 95 seems to be better traffic wise, but I would still have to go all the way over to 93 and down into Boston, or even over out the turnpike for shopping (for clients). Still a really long commute, but maybe necessary to find a place that we can afford with a yard, good schools, and not on a major thoroughfare with no sidewalks.

I hear southern NH doesn't care too much for the influx of people from MA that commute to Boston to work though. And that they aren't too friendly to outsiders for that reason.

Why people don't know about North Reading is interesting, I think they assume, North Something town is the same as Something town, even people from around here ask me about Reading, thinking it is the same town.

Is this not what your are looking for, a school district ranked around 55 out of 300 schools in eastern mass.

Small population of 14k, know your neighbors, lots of parks, forest, properties with a few acres and a major state park called Harold Parker. Ponds and a river. Small town center.

A 404k house 3 bed, 2 bath, 1800 sqft, .5 acre and a 7 minute commute to Reading and 30 ish minute late 10 am drive to Boston's edge on a weekday?

Yes new houses are +- 1 million here, but there are houses from 1000 to 2000 for under 500k down to 290s, that are just old stock.

The reason that house is so inexpensive is that it is located on Route 62 - a busy main road!
