Coakley was just a terrible candidate. It has nothing to do with the GOP.

What it means is that people are tired of the same old tried and failed policies. Although you look at how close the results are and it scares you that we still have so many narrow minded dingbats in this state. Democrats in this state forget how trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insanity and never works out. The economy in Massachusetts is a drag and an illusion especially for the northern part of the state as well as most of Worcester county and outside 495 along with most of the south coast.

The only place that's doing well is Boston because the stupid democrats in this state from DAY ONE, believe that if you just keep voting for the same thing eventually it will work.

Also worth Noting, the Mayors of Lowell, Quincy, and Lynn all endorsed Charlie Baker.
A few Boston city Councilors endorsed Baker.
Walsh seemed passive.
Only the Mayors of Lawrence and Fall River came out to strongly support Baker.
but shortly after the Mayor of Fall River influence sort of imploded, and could have hurt more that it helped.

Is that a fact? I wish people would stop with such nonsense. The Mass. Republicans tried for 20 years with their "big tent" dogma (read either run from, or be apologetic regarding conservative principles). In the end they stood for nothing, and Independents like myself have been turned off by their wishy-washy/"well at least we're the lesser of the two evils". Their numbers have dwindled as a result. It was a huge failure.

Now at least they stand for something. Baker is a RINO, but many authentic/principled Republicans ran local races and made gains in the state house. Sure they still have a long way to go, but they made progress in 2010 and more progress in 2014. It's a start, and those of you insisting they be "Democrat Lites" inho want to see them fail and the one party rule continue. If you look at trends over the past few decades, your theory has been proven wrong. Look at the two most successful statewide GOP candidates to run since 2000. That would be Mitt Romney and Scott Brown (2009 version). Neither of them ran from their conservative beliefs, and that struck well with the voters (even if they didn't agree on everything). Then watch what happened in 2012 when Scott Brown drifted to the left with his pro-abortion radio ads, etc. It backfired on him. Baker, the only reason he won was because his opponent was the very pathetic Martha Coakley. He lost to Patrick in 2010, who already had a very dismal record. Can't really say his formula is a proven success.

Meanwhile, the Democrats continue to push their very radical social agenda on the citizens of Massachusetts. Children are being indoctrinated in the schools with stuff I cannot even discuss on C-D. Legislators are seeking ways to ignore the recent Supreme Court ruling affecting free speech, and they are pushing to open all restrooms/locker rooms to both genders! We need the Republicans to fight this insanity; and therefore have no room for these weak willed, timid push-overs in the legislature. We need some balance, and we need ba##s.

We clearly are not going to agree since I'm not trembling in my house fearing co-ed locker rooms and bathrooms - which I understand to mean that people can choose where to go, not that the have to all **** and **** next to each other. This is hardly a sign of societal collapse.

The center-right formula not a proven success? Not a historical reality? Weld, Cellucci, Romney, now Baker. They all ran as center-right candidates, look at MA-Romney vs. Pres-Romney - Romney as governor is unrecognizable as the candidate who ran for the presidency. Even Brown had to turn to the left because he was getting eaten alive by Warren with female voters - not to mention he was one easiest votes for democrats to peel off from his bloc while in Washington.

RINO is a ridiculous designation. It's ironic that a radical fringe of the conservative party somehow claims to carry the mantle of the party and label anyone not as far-right as them "not republicans", especially considering RINOs are the only republicans who actually resemble the historical party - they're about as true a republican as can be found. They're also the only ones that can win a state wide election and that isn't going to change.

But you know, you gotta take our country back! Back to the good old days that never existed. Baker republicans are a tradition in Mass, and have been good governors and legislators when in office - they're the only true conservatives here.

I think people are sick of the Democrats wreckless spending. There are a lot of Dems that voted Republican this time around, but the big surge was the centrists. They are hard to predict and after the last couple years it's really not a surprise that the Republicans are doing as well as they are. Most democrats are separating themselves from Obama, which is trickling down to state and local level. Then you have people like me (Libertarian) which is kinda caught in the middle, but tend to vote right because even when there is a Libertarian candidate they usually have no chance, so a vote for them is a wasted one. Sounds terrible but true.

Wreckless would presumably be a good thing.
