My husbands ex wife is moving up to Chicopee in April and we want to move to the area after our lease is up in August to be near his son. I am a cook and am wondering about the areas resturants. I want to have a job before I get out there so I want to start my research now. I am just wondering if I could get some recommendations of good places in the area. Hotels and country clubs are also an option or catering companies. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great. Also we will be looking for a place to live when we get out there. Any house rental companies that anyone knows of would be great to know as well. We don't really like living in apartments and would rather live in a house. Until we get out there we can't buy a place so we will have to at least rent for a while. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give. None of it has to be in springfield but anywhere in the area. Thanks.

Not much in Chicopee itself although I've heard Westover AFB has a nice restaurant on the base. Holyoke has at least three good restaurants, the Log Cabin, Yankee Pedlar Inn, and Delaney House. Northampton has many nice restaurants. There's an Abdow family that's into restaurants; they ran the local HighBoy chain some years back and had P. J. Scott on Memorial Drive in Chicopee but that closed recently. What else??? There's Wycoff Park in Holyoke, a golf course; it once had a restaurant-function room on the premises and may still. Mt HOlyoke college in South Hadley has a nice campus operation called the Willets Hallowell Center and Amherst College operates the Lord Jeffrey Inn there. There's a high-quality local group of elder residences called Loomis Communities, in Holyoke, S Hadley and Amherst all with big dining rooms for the residents. Springfield has restaurants, just can't think of any off-hand other than the very traditional Student Prince and the Fort. But Northampton is the local mecca for restaurants. Good luck!
