I am planning a trip to Boston for St. Patrick's Day. I know St. Paddy's is actually Tuesday, March 17th and the parade is Sunday, March 15th, but does anything happen on the DAY OF? Obviously, it'll be a week day, but does the city still celebrate the actual day? I ask because I don't know if I'll be able to make it in by Sunday.

Thanks!

It's a legal holiday in Suffolk County (Boston), so I guess there will be local celebrations.

It coincides with a legal holiday. The actual holiday is Evacuation Day. Would it be a holiday if it were the 18th? Probably not, but that's how it's listed officially, not St. Patrick's Day.

Yes, you and I know that but the general public doesn't.
