Default Summer Traffic in South Shore/Duxbury

How bad is the traffic in the South Shore during the summer? Specifically Duxbury/Marshfield?

Are there a lot of blue collar people who come into the south shore from inland? Does the crime rate increase in the summer?

Thanks in advance.

Default marshfield

I'll speak to Marshfield. The traffic pick up during summer (add 10 mins to your travel time around town.) just because more people do come from other town both of blue and white collar jobs. As for crime I'd say there's a little more in the way of assaults, burglary of cars, and some more vandalism during the summer months. But all in all it's still real safe.

Now let just comment on something I think I'm reading into from the way you worded your comment.

Marshfield was and still is somewhat a bluecollar town persons town. Unless you come from marshfield Hills. I fact I grew up as a bluecollar kid with bluecollar values. To be honest growing up in Marshfield was a wonderful time in my life and I knew I was always safe there.
Now maybe I read your post wrong. But just in case I didn't let me say that both blue and white collar folk cause problems in the summer time. Nothing major but of course with more people around it bound to happen. So please if you can't deal with the bluecollar folks. I wouldn't suggest marshfield to live, or vacation at. I fact as home values fall in south shore more of the bluecollar kid that grew up there will probably buy there. At least I hope so.

Marshfield is tough to drive in and out of especially during the holidays when everyone wants to go to The Christmas Tree Shop and Yankee Candle in Pembroke! They are situated right across the street from the northbound exit to Rt 3 into Boston and when you get off Rt3, you HAVE to get into the traffic to get home if you live in Marshfield! That area sure isn't the sleepy little towns I knew when I was growing up! From Weymouth, south, we used to be considered "the boonies"! Not too many people lived down here year 'round. Then it became fashionable to flee the cities and move down here. IF I ever move, it will be to find warmer "boonies".

The traffic in this area isn't bad at all. I will say that Humarock is packed on Labor Day weekend but other than that traffic in Marshfield and Duxbury is not bad at all. Of course I haven't lived in Marshfield for 11 years now so maybe things have changed, but I did drive in there a couple times this summer and it wasn't bad at all.

I don't think the traffic is that bad. Maybe on a holiday weekend add 10 minutes on to your drive time when driving around town. Even route three isn't too bad during the summer unless again it is the friday night before a holiday weekend.
