Moving to Natick
Hey city-data friends. I've been swamped at work the past couple weeks (busy season has started for accountants) so I haven't been on here much lately. I just wanted to drop a quick note that we just signed a P&S for a home in Natick. We'll be closing sometime after the mayhem ends on April 15 (in reference to tax day). I'm so excited, it's only a 5 minute drive to my office and 15 min to my wife's office.
Can anyone recommend some good mid-end furniture stores in the area? We're looking for some good furniture -- not high-end, but not really cheap either. Maybe something similar in quality to Jordan's, but we don't know of any besides Jordan's and Bob's.
Also, does anyone know of a roofing contractor and a heating system installer in the area?

Winchendon Furniture--in Winchendon--is having a 45% off retail sale on everything in the store. Nice traditional furniture--no particle board.

I like Circle Furniture (Rt 9 westbound in Framingham). It's small but they have additional items available by catalog, and I've found the staff quite helpful.
(I'd never go to Bob's just because I find their commercials SOOOO annoying! But that's just me!)

First of all- Congrats!
We got our living room furniture at Bernie & Phyl's about 4 years ago. At the time Bob's and B&P's was noticeably cheaper than Jordan's. We got a good deal, but definitely had a hard time because the lack of selection. Jordan's just had so much more.
When we moved into our new home this past year, we went furniture hunting again. We naturally went to all 3....AGAIN. Bob's selection was horrible and Bernie and Phyl's was not much better along with their prices being higher than we expected. So off to Jordan's. They actually had more styles that appealed AND the best prices. We were actually shocked. But you do have to walk through the mazes of rooms to find the deals- if you just pop you head in to take a peek you may seem some higher priced items- but scout around and the deals are there. I believe they lowered alot of their pricing a few years back- especially when they introduced the "Whole Shebang" offers- whole room sets that are hands down the best values out of all 3 stores. The staff was also very easy to deal with, delivery was smooth and the product is excellent.
I'll pm you some recommendations on a roofer we used and some other tips...
Good luck with tax season

Macy's Furniture in Natick/Framingham has a big sale going on...no interest for a year either. It's more work but a big savings...Craigslist. So glad you won't have to hear motorcycles when you open your windows anymore! When's the baby due?

Ikea good option for furniture
Hello,
Ikea provides reasonably priced furniture. It is Stoughton - which is 30 minutes away. We used their cabinets when we redid our kitchen and have been very happy. We also bought our nursery furniture from there.
I would recommend going some weekend having breakfast/lunch and wander the showrooms. Most items you can bring home the same day.
Congratulations on your upcoming move.

we really like Rotman's Furniture in Worcester. Right off the highway.
Also, check out the furniture outlets in Gardner, MA. Not a bad drive from Natick. Greater Gardner Furniture Outlets You can even find furniture you like in local stores and call the various outlets to see if they carry that brand and get a price.
Good luck.

It depends on how much you plan to spend... if you plan to spend a few thousand dollars for an entire room, I suggest ordering from North Carolina. It is much cheaper even with shipping....
Gardner furniture outlets is an option... but you have to like certain style...
Figure out the style you like first... then determine the quality you want... you can always find discounts since the markup of furniture is so high...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm going to spend awhile visiting them all since time's on our side. I think someone mentioned something a couple weeks ago about Natick schools having some problems (scarletfire?). My daughter still has a while to go before she enters schools, but if you know anything about it, please PM me ... thanks!
