affordable antique stores
Can anyone recommend reasonable antique stores in the Metro West to Essex County area? Not looking for high end items, but more unusual collectable furniture. We found a cute antique children's desk in Newburyport last weekend that we use as a side table that was only $30. Anything within 30-45 of Concord?? Thanks.

Is it just a slow weekend on the Ma. threads or doesn't anyone know about antique shopping in Ma. or Nh? Just a quick reply?

Your best bet is to wait until spring and shop the Brimfield antique show out next to Sturbridge. It's a week long huge outdoor event three times a year, mid-May, July and early September. Otherwise, when you are at a local antique store, just pick up a copy of the free Journal of Antiques and Collectables and look through the ads. For what you are looking for, it could be at any antique store. Inventory changes all of the time and the dealers don't have any real control over what comes into their stores. If they get offered a good piece and there's some profit in it, they will buy it.
I like shopping along Rte. 1 in Maine. From Arundel south back towards NH.

Sunday morning I like to sleep late... then I had to think about my answer. Between eBay and the high costs of gas, I don't drive around antiquing as much as I used to.
BTW Waltham has two nice antique malls next to each other on Felton St.

Nothing's CHEAP anymore. Anyway there are loads of antique shops in Essex -- there are deals to be had. Also check on Craig's List because it's amazing what people are selling on Craig's List, you can almost furnish a house on there.

Well puffle, you seem to be fitting in just fine up there. Glad to see the snow hasn't slowed you down. Good luck on antique hunting, sounds fun.

Twiggy! When are you finally moving here? I've been waiting for news since Magic Touch, gamsauer and Greenie are here, well not all. What's the deal?
