Hello. My daughter is in kindergarten in a high performing district. Everyone is very helpful, but she is overwhelmed most of the time by the sheer number of children and the pace of learning. She has challenges around social-emotional regulation and has an individualized education plan. The schools in our current city will always be very highly populated, so I'm wondering about a move to Bedford.
How do residents feel about class size and the general attitude of staff and parents toward children who need a bit of extra support?
Davis Elementary is very supportive. Since the school is only K-3 the environment is very tuned for that age group. Super warm and caring.
However, the secret about Bedford is out and class sizes are creeping up every year. My twins are in 1st and I think they have 21 or 22 kids in their classes this year.

IMO this helps a lot with social development. Southborough also splits their schools like this. They have 1 school each for K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12. Every kid knows every other kid in town from K through 12.
I'm in the exact same situation OP. We are in Lexington right now but are considering Bedford because of the less competitive, smaller town feel. My son is on the spectrum (mild) and I'm wondering if it would be easier knowing all the kids in town growing up, rather than transitioning to a bigger middle school/even bigger high school. I have contacted the sepac and the school district but am not getting any response.
Lynnfield isn't exactly the cheapest place to live
Then again, neither is Bedford. If OP were budget-conscious, she would't be looking in either place.
