Default Working in Pawtucket, where to live in Mass?

After living in NC for 5 years we are heading back Northeast.
I need a nice friendly town with a good school system for my 1st grader and more importantly my older one heading to High School next year .
My older one has had problems fitting in down south since she is open minded & a bit liberal. Any suggestions where to live. We can spend about $500k for a house and I would like the commuting distance from Pawtucket not to be much more than a half hour for my husband.

Any particular reason for living in Mass. and not in R.I.? (I like Mass. better too ). For a nice town near to Pawtucket you should check out Franklin. Some regulars on here live there and have only good things to say about the town, and its welcoming attitude toward new arrivals. My own personal experience is more limited but generally positive.

I hope you've visited Pawtucket already, and have an idea of the 95 commute to/from Pawtucket? And what the area looks like?

Personally I'd recommend moving as far to the north of Pawtucket as your commute will allow. Foxboro and Wrentham are very nice; parts of Sharon and Mansfield are also nice. Mansfield was recently reported to be a good area for young families. Nowadays $500K should get you a pretty good house in those areas, since the market has dropped. I don't know about the school systems, though. Foxboro and Wrentham are perhaps a little more upscale, and are pretty towns.

Hello,
I agree with the Franklin or Wrentham suggestions. My family moved to Franklin a year ago, and we really like it. $500K buys you a bit more house here; Wrentham is a bit higher, but again, the housing slump might work in your favor. If you wish to send a direct message to me regarding life in Franklin, I will be happy to answer your questions to the best of my abilities. There are certainly ups & downs...but you will find that anywhere you go, friend. I wish you the best of luck.

How about North Attleboro, nice town, nice houses, and good schools, and very close to Pawtucket.

If your looking for a bit rural and good schools, Dighton and North Dighton are a good option. $500,000 will buy you alot of home here, but more than likely you won't have to spend that much to buy a nice home. Rehoboth is another option, however the schools there have lost some appeal due to budget cuts. Both the Dighton's and Rehoboth use the same High School.

Rehoboth is nice if you want a more rural feel, yet very close to Providence and Pawtucket.
