Default A place to move with a family

Hi,
we will move to Waltham this spring, and I was wondering if any body could tell me what cities surrounding Waltham are great for a young family with kids. We are planning to rent a house for about a year before buying, if any one has an idea which the more affordable areas are that would be great.
Thank you very much

All towns touching Waltham are good option... Weston, Lincoln, Belmont, Newton,...

As to affordable... it depends... those from NYC and CA says Boston area is cheap... those from midwest says Boston area is expensive.
