Here's a picture from Friday's storm which was only a couple inches by the time I got home. I don't know anyone who would attempt to shovel this. Yes that's my driveway, not the street. I spent just as much time cleaning up fallen tree branches as I did snowblowing that day.

If you were out there at 5am blowing snow and then didn't go to work, I'd be unhappy. If you cleared your driveway at 5am and then commuted, have at it.

Yup - I have a neighbor that leaves for work at 5:15 AM. He's out there at 4 AM sometimes. I might hear him and wake up. But I simply say "oh that's Nard" and go back to sleep. The snow tends to muffle most of the noise.

We have over 200' of driveway and my husband refuses to get a snow blower. The only thing I do like about shoveling is that we can do it anytime. I'd still rather have the snow blower, though. My arms are sore this morning.

I'm the same way. I actually enjoy the workout. Took me a couple of hours last night to clear our driveway and stairs. I can handle a winter like the one we've been having with just a shovel, but last winter I definitely wish I had a snow blower

You need a plow service.

I actually love shoveling but I would not love shoveling 200 feet of driveway.

How come?

In the few storms we've had, I can def say when I've used the snow-blower, I'm nowhere near as tired or sore. Snow-blowing is just less strenuous overall.

Might not be an issue where I'm only 35 now....but when I hit 45-55 and up, I'd be concerned about having a heart attack while shoveling.

I have a pretty big driveway myself. 1" or more and i'll use the snowblower. No more hassle getting it going vs grabbing a shovel. I have it parked in my garage gassed up with a 120V plug next to it to start it up. Takes all of 3 seconds to get up and running.

I could see a snowblower being a hassle if you don't have a garage and have to store it in a backyard shed, or porch, or basement. Might be more work getting it in and out of there.

I'll need to upgrade my snowblower at some point. It's a 22" 2-stage, but a discontinued model with no parts support. if I break something, I'm SOL unless I can machine it up myself. I'm thinking it might be a bit on the small side anyway with regards to last winter.

I'd be fine with a plow service--I convinced my husband to use one when I was pregnant with my first child, but the first kept forgetting to show up until we called him. The second guy bailed on us, so my husband has vetoed the plowing. Last year with the shovel nearly broke me...by comparison, this year has been a breeze. Yesterday we shoveled twice (once at 3pm, once at 9pm) and that really helped.

BostonMike
, he likes the workout and the "recreational companionship" when we shovel together since we joke around together while shoveling. I've threatened to get my own snow-blower and just do my half of the driveway
