Wouldn't really call Clinton low income, more blue-collar to middle-class with some lower income folk sprinkled in. It ain't Sterling, but it's a notch above Fitchburg, Worcester, etc. I would put it on par with Ayer or Leominster. Clinton's main problem is its lack of access to main highways which results in a struggling tax base.

On the plus are its small size and many long term families living there, so it lacks the widespread transience that contributes to crime in other mill towns like Fitchburg or Lowell. But while I'm not surprised by its low crime rate, I'm still shocked to see it in the top ten given how many sterile leafy bedroom communities exist all over Mass.

Meh...lists like this can be misleading because folks from other parts of the country then think, "WE HAVE TO LIVE IN ONE OF THESE TOWNS..." when actually there are loads of great, safe towns and cities to live in MA.

BTW, most of those (if not all) are not cities...they're towns. That in itself should stop someone from giving this list any cred.
