Hi,
I will move to Wellesley this spring as a student, but am married and don't want to live in traditional student housing areas. I don't mind commuting so long as I can use the public transport system or should be within 10 miles distance of Babson university. Cost of living (taking commute into consideration) is our main issue. We are not looking for a great place to live, specially coz both of us would be out and busy throughout the day and spend very little time home. A small studio apt should be good for us. I was wondering if any body could tell me what cities surrounding Wellesley are affordable. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated !! Thanks ![]() |

NONE!!! For the most part Wellesley and the cities around it are the most expensive in the state. The best deals will probably be in Natick, just west of Wellesley, but something right by the train will limit you. I don't know about buses from Natick to Babson but there must be some. You might find something in Auburndale or West Newton (both parts of Newton) if you want something slightly more urban that's heading toward Boston instead of away. Both are easily within 10 miles of Babson. Another place is Framingham. Downtown Framingham near the station gets a bad rap compared to the other places around it but I don't think it's so bad. You'd have to check it out and see for yourself.
Example: Deerfield Forest, 1-Bedroom Condo $950+ Available Immediately (broken link) If you want to use public transit definitely check the MBTA maps and schedules before winding up somewhere inconvenient. |

Babson college is in a residential area. The closest train station is Wellesley Hills and it's a long walk from there. You pretty much need a car. As far as less expensive communities within a reasonable drive, I would suggest Waltham.
