Lexington has a great reputation in these forums - at least as a school district. However, I am in a bit of bind at the moment.

So we are going through the process of buying a house in Lexington, and I find out that all 3 options for afterschool care in elementary school is full, and each has a wait list of at least 50!

Now I cannot be the only person in this boat in Lexington - or in another town - but I am wondering what my options are. Nannies are expensive, and I am not sure are a good option for 3rd graders. There are one off class options after school, but I can't make it back in time to pick them up by 4 pm, I need extended care...

Any suggestions? There must be some actual Lexington folks here, and I would love some help!

Thanks!
DG

You don't live in Lexington if you can't afford a nanny or babysitter.

Many towns have alternative after school care, for example at a nearby gym which provides after-school activity time. I'd look into that - ask around town.

Did you look at this place? It looks like they are open until 6:30 and have space for next year.

Are you on Facebook? There is probably a local Lexington group -- maybe a "Lexington Moms" group or even a Lexington yardsale page. There may even be a page for parents of your particular elementary school. I bet there will be a lot more folks on those pages who could give you specific suggestions.
