Rusty Scupper was a chain.

Quote:
a bustling seafood-themed restaurant on Long Island called the Rusty Scupper. It was one of 17 in four states, a chain eventually sold to Stouffer Hotels in 1975. A lone Scupper remains in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

Joe Mac's in Dennis. I think it's Chapin's now. I used to love it as a kid because they had an arcade (with Pacman!), fried seafood, and T-shirts. Honestly, I was 12 when it closed (1997), so I don't know if the food was really as good as I remember (I drowned my fish and chips/scallops/clam strips in tartar sauce at that age), but it's one of two restaurants (the other being Cobie's which is still around) that I grew up going to on the Cape so there's a lot of nostalgia for it.

Wow, didn't even realize that closed...

They've probably been mentioned on this thread so I apologize, but the Pillar House in Newton and Fontaines in West Roxbury. Also, there was the Brook Manor in South Attleboro where they dressed up in colonial garb (there's now a CVS there ). Speaking of S.A., Luana's was an interesting very small Mexican restaurant basically ran by one lady (like Grandma's kitchen kind of place). She would take your order, go make your margarita, then cook your food. Obviously came with a wait, but certainly worth it...

Yep, it closed early this month. We know the owners. It hasn't been profitable for some time, and between deaths in the family, and kids growing up and moving on, it wasn't working anymore. It's a great location and I know they've "closed for renovations" so the liquor license stays; so I imagine something will take it's place.

I hope so, but of course, it will be different. It's a beautiful building and a beautiful location with a lot of history that's been woven into the lives and memories of so many. Generations of Hadleys served generations of locals there. Like so many others, we would walk in and Timm or Tedd or Tucker, then Mary, would set our beers on the bar and ask us if we wanted the usual for dinner. The Inn was part of my life for over 40 years.

They closed without notice maybe in 2003-2004? Even the Brookline Tab had a story about their mysterious closing.

Anybody remember this culinary haven?
Yes! I went there a few times and hadn't thought of it in years.
