I estimate driving to Assembly Square from Acton would be an hour and fifteen minutes or more. I can get to East Arlington from Acton during peak times in 45 minutes. The main roads I am familiar with between East Arlington and Assembly Square are route 16 and route 60. I know both of those can be congested. There may be some other shortcuts. I do Mass Ave to Somerville Ave to get to the Union Square/East Somerville/East Cambridge areas and that works well, but I don't think it would necessarily be the best way to get to Assembly Square.

On the snowiest days you have the commuter rail from West Concord or South Acton that goes to North Station and then you may be able to take a shuttle and definitely can take the orange line from there.

Acton is centrally located well lfor the other commuter traveling all over MetroWest and NorthWest Boston.
