I call it home as I live in the neighborhood just west of the Emerald Sq Mall.

North Attleborough and nearby towns don't really easily identify with any region. Further complicating matters, is the fact that several counties meet in the 95/495 area. North Attleborough, Mansfiled, and Easton are the northern most towns in Bristol County. They share little in common with the population centers of the county which are the coastal areas of New Bedford and Fall River.

Towns like Weymouth, Hanover, Hingham, etc.

So what area does the part of MA I'm referencing fall into? Is it the South Shore or is it some other name? Would calling it Southeastern MA suffice?

I would call it Southeast Massachusetts.

It's not exactly South Shore.
It's not South Coast.
It's not Metro West.

I live outside of Providence and the news channels cover that area; it is referred to as southeastern Mass.

How I would actually describe it in conversation would be "down by the Wrentham Outlets" or "near IKEA." Those are the landmarks everyone in the city knows down there.

Sounds right. I think local high school sports were in the Hockomock League.

I love these threads because they bring out the obscure stuff only people in the area would know about.

Many of the public town high schools in this region (Canton-Taunton-Milford triangle) still compete in the Hockomock League.

The local YMCA branches in North Attleborough, Foxborough, Mansfield, and Franklin are part of the Hockomock YMCA.

Yeah but that specifically refers to those particular, mostly affluent towns. Totally excludes a sizable part of that area such Taunton.

Sharon
