Does anyone have any good suggestions for fun things to do with a toddler (1 year old) on a day trip or a weekend trip?

I've had recommendations for the Great Wolf Lodge, but wanted to see if anyone here has any additional ideas. Preferably within Massachusetts or neighboring states within driving distance.

Thanks!

Without wanting to sound like a curmudgeon, unless it's to see family, no weekend trip should be planned around entertaining a one-year-old. They kind of go with the flow at that age.

If it's in the near future, try a beach. Wingaersheek in Gloucester is particularly good at low tide for toddlers. Bring cash for parking.

My go-to weekend activity has been hiking. Lots of good options depending on interest and ability. Now at 2 1/2 it's one of her favorite activities.

If you're looking in the fall the Topsfield fair could be a good option.

Apple picking, harbor cruise (maybe take a short ferry ride somewhere first so you know if he/she gets seasick), Discovery Museum in Acton (cool sculptures for kid to ogle), Walden Pond, possibly Storyland although they're probably too young yet to get your money's worth. But I agree with bohemka, at that age I'd just be dragging the kid along to whatever I wanted to do as long as it was reasonably family-friendly. They'll have fun just taking in the new surroundings.
