Default Clinton, MA--any info would be great!

Specifically, I am interested in its friendliness, openness, and acceptance of different cultures and lifestyles?

People who smokes and drinks usually are very friendly. What kind of lifestyle are you thinking about?

I think they have the highest number of bars and package stores per square mile in the area. A very WET town.

I think I know what your asking about and I don't think its the place your looking for.

It was once a nice middle class working town but it's really gone down hill the last 10 years or so.

A lot of manufactures and industry has left and it's hurt the once nice little town. Some influx from Worcester has brought it down in my opinion.

Yes, at one time Clinton was in the World Record for largest number of bars per square mile. THere are good and not so good parts of the town, but it's not a ghetto. Schools are not great, though. It's not a bad town...it's become divers over the last few years. It stilll has a very high Irish population and it's in a great location right along Route 495 and not far from the Mass Pike and it's slightly more affordable than other towns in the area. If you're willing to spend a little more, consider nearby Lancaster, Sterling or West Boylston. Good luck!

I lived in Lancaster for a year and in my mind Clinton was a dump. Years ago I subbed at the Clinton middle and high school [only a few times] they begged me to go to the middle school and it was a zoo, the students were as bad as you would find in the inner city. I stongly suggest if you have kids not to ever live in Clinton [the high school was fine].

It's funny because Lancaster is a dry town and is home to a great deal of Seventh Day Adventists and home of the Atlantic Union College. You go a quarter mile down the road to Clinton which has a bar or a liquor store on just about every street that surrounds the downtown. What's even more humorous is that at one time they were the same town. Lancaster is a fantastic place to live and is extremely Family oriented witha very lax Police department. If you read the Police Log's, Lancasters section has things like "Cat caught in a tree" and Clinton's has "Middle Schooler busted for Crack."

As far as being close to 495 goes, it really isn't. You either have to cut through Bolton and get on rt 117 which is always traffic jammed during the morning and evening commute's or go all the way through Berlin which is a way round about way to get to 495 especially if you are going to head north on it. Lancaster get's my vote because for some strange reason the home prices are not as high as Stow or Bolton and the property taxes aren't nearly as bad as Stow or Bolton which is really strange because they share the same High School (Nashoba Regional).

Lancaster is a diamond in the rough as far as I am concerned. The town has shot down just about every 2 and 1/2 over ride and the residents demand efficiency within their town government. I would say on paper they come across as very Libertarian which is what MA needs more than anything imo.

I agree especially with real estate prices. You go over to Bolton, Stow, or Berlin and prices shoot up. Lancaster's prices are quite a bit lower compared to those towns and like you mentioned share the same high school as Stow and Bolton.

It is funny like you mentioned Lancaster is dry and Clinton has tons of bars. They are two completely different towns. Just to add, a lot of the towns around Lancaster were once part of it. They basically all branched off eventually.

Clinton, MA is a small quiet town and yes there are other towns around the area like Northboro that are much better, I also lived in Hudson and they are better than Clinton, but barely. Clinton is a poorer town so with that comes other things, but I have lived there for about 5 years now and have not once had a problem there, love the town.

If your child/children are smart and do well in school Clinton will be OK, but if he/she has disabilities, Northboro would be a much better place. Hudson certainly would not be a place to look for any sort of disability issues.

If you are luck your child won't have any issues.

Clinton is a quiet town, where most everyone knows each other, probably 75% of the adult population grew up there, and 50% love it, 25% stay because they can't afford to go anywhere else.....
