Default Hubbardston?

Anyone live in Hubbardston or ever been there?
Curious if it has a downtown, shops, private schools and what the general feel of the town is.
Thanks

Can't say that I've lived there, but we did look at purchasing our first home in Hubbardston 10 years ago (ended up deciding to go with North Brookfield). Hubbardston is a small town, not a lot to offer that we could find in the town proper but it does have a small downtown area (but few businesses). It seems to be more of a bedroom community for the Gardner/Fitchburg area than anything else, and with Gardner being only ten minutes away gives you a lot of stores, restaurants, etc a short drive away. There's also a HUGE flea market in Hubbardston throughout the summer, by the Gardner border, so that may be something you're interested in.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info Jeremy.

I'm embarassed to admit that I had to look it up on the map after doing a general search of properties with lake views way below what we're going to have to pay in the Cambridge area. I do this just to add pain to my life. The sweetest little house came up and I spent a few hours dreaming of moving there and, I'm going to whisper this part, commuting to Cambridge.

ah dreams.

I used to live there about 22 years ago. There isn't much there, and still isn't. Pretty rural still.

Well, Route 2 is only 15 minutes away, if you're willing to do the hour+ commute each way (I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one from that area commuting to Cambridge/Boston!).

If you like a VERY rural town, you will like Hubbardston.

Well, up until a year ago I was living in New Braintree, which makes Hubbardston look like a small metropolis!
