So, the next Los Angeles perhaps? Ever check the prices for homes out that way, it's amazing!

I see no way to compare LA, which covers a giant land mass, and is a MUUUUCH larger city population size, and Boston, which is geographically very small and locked in.

Hmmm...probably not. The police did a good job of combing the area and caught the perps quickly. It happened in one of the most desirable areas of Roslindale and no one got hurt. A lot of older neighbors claimed they have never seen that happen before. So I still think Roslindale is one of the safer neighborhoods of Boston.

In contrast, I lived in South Boston for 30 years and noticed it change a lot. Most of it was for the good, but some of it was gut-wrenching and disturbing. I finally moved out two years ago because I could not stand seeing the drug addicts openly using on the streets. We were in the part of South Boston, not too far from BMC and the "Methadone Mile". Also, in South Boston, a few years ago a young woman was kidnapped right in front of her home near Broadway and then robbed and murdered. It was chillingly random. In another horrifying incident, a grandmother was robbed and murdered in her own home.

But people still think South Boston is very desirable.

Yes parts of south boston are very bad mainly from all the drug activity. Projects are there too. That story with amy lord is very scary.

My co worker moves to roslindale recently and he described the area he lives in as 'pretty rough'. I tried not to laugh to be honest. In his defense he does live near the projects in rozzi...but i lived near geneva ave at one point in my life and roslindale is nothing compared to that. Rough to one person is peaceful to someone else i guess.

I think, in general, it's how experienced you are living in a definite urban area. I know some people who'd faint from fright dipping a toe into downtown Boston, never mind Southie or Rozzie.
