Skiing around Boston area
which area would you guys recommend for skiing around the boston area?
I looked up New England vacations - Boston.com and it seems like that are a lot of places so I am confused.
My wife and I are not regular skiers so we are looking for a place that has a lot of easy slopes and a place where we could take some lessons too.
We are also looking for an area that is not more than a 3 hour drive boston. And where we could stay at a mountain lodge and go to the local area for beers and good dinner. Any recommedations you'll can provide would be useful?

North Conway, NH. White Mountains. A slew of B & Bs, nice downtown for provisions. Around there Attitash is good, well rounded skiiing.
I also like Waterville Valley. All of that stuff is just a few hours up from Boston. But there's a ton of other places around there. Closer to eastern Mass. than Vermont.
But this is not Utah, or CO. Most of the more challenging trails are icy and narrow compared to the West.

Wachusset. Short drive. Not as high as the White Mtns. but worth the lift ticket.
If you're looking at the Mtns. though, Attitash, Bretton Woods, Loon are all worth the trip.

If you are true beginners, there's Blue Hills in Milton, and Nashoba Valley in Littleton. Both less than an hour from Boston.
In three hours' radius, you could go pretty much anywhere and start on the easy slopes.

I second Wachussett. Straight drive up Rt 2 West, about 1 hour from Boston proper. Unlike Nashoba Valley in Westford, the price of your ticket is actually worth it for the amount you can do there. Ski lessons, everything from Bunny Hills to Black Diamonds, and more than just one option per. There is also a great little restaraunt down the street called The Old Mill you can relax at after. Good prices, good food, beautiful atmosphere.
