You are probably the same type of person who walked in the woman's march or go to black lives matter protests yet a gang member shooting at a shopping mall is just another day to you.
You know, I tend to skip over political agendas on this board, but really, that general area of the South Shore hasn't been the lily white Irish enclave it once was for awhile now. Why is it such a shock to you?

People have cars. People can go anywhere. Where's the outrage over the robbery at the Derby Street Shops in (GASP!) Hingham last year? http://https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2016/09/06/large-group-teenagers-rob-apple-store-hingham/hsaJXuP6Ka7NsDarqlgj6J/story.html

Two separate incidents do not make a trend.

Default Re

I do remember hearing about the robbery st at derby shops. Very bad but not a shooting.

Seems like there are fancy stores going up in many areas. They sure seem to bring in some riff raff which is likely not what people expected.

Friends in Braintree say they stay away from the plaza at night. Shootings might be
"rare" but gang presence isn't.

And I agree with the Derby Street Shop situation. That gets swept under the rug because it happened in Hingham.

That's not unusual.

I live on the Cape. The story of the drug dealers using the Shriver summer home in Hyannisport was splashed across the news and then just as quickly went away. shock to those of us who live there. It isn't shocking to those of us who live locally-one of the most notorious gangs on the south coast was headquartered on Nautical Road just steps away.

It seems like making it nicer by adding nicer stores and restaurants attracted an interesting crowd. The natick malls and chesnut hill malls arent like this so i guess it's the close proximity to brockton, randolph or even dorchester and mattapan. They come in droves. I guess winter is worse because people want to be indoors.

There was also a shooting there in april of 2016.

They dont call it a ghetto mall for nothing i guess. Glad no one was hurt.
Theyre coming from Brockton/Avon/Stoughton/Milton/Dorchester/Hyde Park/Mattapan/Randolph and from lesser numbers from a few other Metro South towns

He used to live in Dorchester, he lives in Quincy now. The old gang form my neighborhood in Hyde Park (Wood Ave Eagles) is known to frequent SSP.

I think that's what started the downfall of the Silver City Galleria. Much of the time, gangbangers and other loiterers outnumbered the legit people actually there to shop. That of course deterred other potential customers. It seems to be the more people abandon malls as places to make purchases, they are becoming not much more than hangout spots. Hopefully SSP isn't headed that way.

How about the westgate mall? is that place still around?

There was incident at some mall in MA a few months ago where someone was stabbed and an off duty cop shot the guy. Which mall was this again?
