The whole NE is like that, one big ghetto, with a few prosperous places, where everyone wants to live, but cannot afford. Midwest is not far.

Hysterical. Thanks. Grateful that I don't live any of those places including the honorable mentions.

Someone was asking about Southbridge in another Thread. Southbridge is in the list. That someone best check the photos and commentary.

A number of towns in Western Mass made the list. Charlemont comes to mind:
Charlemont:
" assumed that everyone who lived up here was rich....Charlemont apparently is – an oversized trailer park in the middle of nowhere"

I think i would take Charlemont over Athol, Ware, Dudley or Lawrence.

I have never understood why nothing is done about these towns. I mean might it not make some sense for the state to be able to take them over and re vitalize them? Like the do with school districts that are failing?

This is such an offensive and idiotic thread. Yes, there are some bad areas in parts of cities, but the state is hardly a cesspool.

Besides that, are "people chilling" really a sign that a neighborhood is bad?

It is pretty snobby...and sad to be honest. Turtleboysports or whoever is basically picking on low income people. I guess not eveyone can be a hipster hanging out on their front porch drinking a latte or a craft beer. It's one thing to point out low income areas and say, hey look at the income inequality in this state but it seems these folks are like, wow look at how poor and trashy these people look-let's look at how pathetic they are.
