I actually like South Wayland better than Natick for commuting. The Mass Pike exit is right on the Wayland/Natick line, but there's less congestion in Wayland than there is in Natick. If you take the train, Wayland also wins over Natick unless you buy a house within walking distance to Natick station. From Wayland you have the option of Lincoln Station for commutes into Cambridge and North Station or Wellesley Farms Station for commutes into Back Bay and the financial district. I used to live in North Natick and actually had to cut through Wayland to avoid the usual Natick traffic to get to the Wellesley Farms station. It took a few extra minutes to get to Wellesley Farms, but the train ride was about 15 minutes shorter so it was actually a shorter commute overall.
