Default Suggestions on MA towns to consider

My wife and I will be empty-nesters soon, and would like to move from Watertown. I work in Waltham. We're looking for a town w/in an hours drive of Waltham, something with a town center and perhaps an art scene of some sort. Salem is a place we're seriously considering (it has a public transportation, which one of us needs, plus some of the cultural stuff). Other ideas?

It really depends on your price range. I imagine Lexington and Concord would be great options if you can afford them.

Gloucester? If it's an hour drive right down 128. Plenty of art and scenery, and not too "precious." (Rockport, much more expensive, touristy, and precious. Gloucester still has normal working people and a working harbor).
Actually, I think Waltham has a decent art scene, lofts, movies. How far do you want to go?

Thanks! I've added Gloucester to my list. I'm willing to drive 45 min or so, and am flexible in commuting time, so could leave at 5AM or 10 AM, and would probably telecommute 2-3 days/week.
