If so, do I just ask my regular doc for one? I need a high CBD strain for pain management.

Yes, you still need a medical card until recreational stores open (sometime in 2018?). If your issue is legit (only certain conditions qualify so it depends what is causing your pain) and your doctor agrees, you can ask them tho qualify you. Otherwise there are plenty of doctors who will do it for a fee, whom you can search for online. Once your health care provider has certified you, you need to go through the registration process for the Medical Use Program.
