How large are these towns we are talking about? Except for Springfield, Pittsfield and a few others, these are all very small. How much money could they be paying to the state?

It isn't so much the money but the intent. A percentage of the sales tax goes directly to the MBTA. No one west of Worcester can take the MBTA. It's been this way since 2000.

There's also the use of the pike itself and the cost to drive back and forth. Yes there is rt 2 but all things being said the pike is better maintained and will always be significantly faster.

The biggest bill though is the big dig of course. Now they want a north south connector? Ok how about this why does this have to be public money? Why can't the private sector pay for this?
