gf2020, if it makes you feel better we are over $250K annual income, have 2 kids in daycare, our only debt is our mortgage (which is less than 2 years' salary), drive 2 crappy cars--one of which just hit 270K miles and I don't feel wealthy either

It's something I often talk with my friends about. They all feel the same way. But it could be worse--you could be in debt!

Or, you could have a median income for the State and be earning like 70k as a family.

Kinda crazy how the wealthy think they aren't wealthy. If you cut your income in half, it is still pretty rich vs the average person.

I live a life on a salary that I'm sure you and your friends couldn't imagine. I do not feel poor at all.

Seriously, a close friend (from HS) that lives in Waltham with 3 kids earns half of 250k (roughly) as a household, and they are living just fine.

Yeah, I saw an article that Denver was up for consideration for it's wonderful airport. Anyone who has flown into Denver knows that the airport is like 45 minute highway ride from downtown at 60mph.

That being said. I don't want it here.

I can't really imagine Amazon wants it here either, not really. I am not a huge believer in Amazon to begin with, so I'm hoping they become someone else's headache, as I think is likely.

Of course it's likely, with so many proposals, any one proposal has a pretty small chance of success.

$250K is objectively rich. Generally people just have poor financial planning skills and live beyond their means. Even having 3 or 4 kids in college wouldn't change much if you properly planned. Protip: Save for your kids' college before they're born and you effectively get anywhere from a 50 to 75% discount because of the power of compound interest.

What people don't understand is whether or not you feel rich is irrelevant to whether you are or not.

It's not a random selection, so the total number of proposals doesn't necessarily mean anything. Half of them have a 0% chance of happening. Amazon has an idea of what they want and I really don't think they will give the Boston proposal much consideration after reading it.

Of course its not random, but after getting a couple of hundred proposals (I heard they got 200) there are certainly going to be at least a dozen solid ones.

I'd be surprised if Boston wasn't in the final 10, honestly. But even so, it still has a small chance.
