Tell me about Northborough
Is anyone very familiar with this town? We're thinking of looking at a couple of houses there.
We're also considering Hudson and Hopkinton - Hopkinton being our top choice.

unbiased opinion
I never lived in any of those towns, so I will leave the specifics to those who have.
However, I have lived all my life in this area and I can give you an unbiased opinion from someone outside these towns. I would rank the towns in the following order:
Hopkinton
Northboro
Hudson
IMO, Hopkinton and Northboro are both a step above Hudson.

Hmmm, I would say Northboro is nice, comfortable, mix of commercial and residential not going to change much. Hopkinton is nice but going through some big changes over the next 5 years with Legacy Farms going in where Weston Nurseries had their plantings. Hudson is an okay town, very industrial based you can find a nice place but you'll have to search for it. Northboro and Hopkinton both have nice housing with Hopkinton being the more expensive. I've lived in Hudson, Hopkinton and sister lives in Northboro she is happy with it (so too would I be but I settled in Hopkinton first). I like Hopkinton alot but there is a big transition coming, how its handled will mark the future of the town for better or worse (it is that big of a deal). Hopkinton had/has alot of open land and it is soon going to be developed and the parcels are so big that each new development will have a big impact

Thanks for the response - Can you be more specific about the developments? I'm familiar with Weston Nurseries and most of the area.
We actually currently rent in Hudson and have grown to like it, but are aware that the school system is probably not as good as in Hopkinton or Northborough (no kids now, just thinking to the future). Because of our budget we are pretty limited (under 325), but we're in a good position to just take our time since we're renting month to month.

I really like Hudson. Don't think the school system is bad. I grew up next door, and was involved with drama so knew some hudson kids very well. I found that the kids from Hudson were much more innocent, homey I guess....hard to explain. I know a lot of kids who went through the Hudson school system and came out very successful. So i find it crazy that people don't think it is such a good school. Maybe they are afraid of all the portuguese! Which would be stupid because most Portuguese are very ethical people...including the kids. Most of whom I have known have great morals. That being said there is good and bad in everybody, every culture, every race.
Northboro is very nice! It feels kind of country, but has some very nice restaurants and cafes. Very interesting. I think it is a great place to raise a family. But very bland culturally and racially.
No opinion on Hopkinton.

Northborough is nice. There are pockets of nice and not so nice areas. I think they just approved a new high school after rejecting it for years... and I mean years... Their Southborough neighbor don't like them as much due to that.
Hudson is a much small town... Rt85 is booming... Main St is still trying to revive (mostly kill by Walmart)...New Mall/Store going in Rt62/Rt495... easy access to highways... Their new high school built a few years ago got some award... scores are up... One thing about Hudson is they are very family oriented... lots of big families... everyone is someone's cousins, aunts, uncles, nephew, niece, ...
