Southern Artery and the East Squantum road around the Squantum area in Quincy are flooded (?), I understand.

Just did some shovelling in North Quincy and enjoyed it; I like winter, snow and cold, but within reason. It was a bit windy at times but the snow was fluffy. Maybe six or seven inches at most, so far.

WRKO radio is claiming twelve inches down in Taunton so far.

I heard hours ago that the Aquarium blue line T was closed due to flooding as well as parts of the blue line to Wonderland station?

Bruins game is cancelled tonight even though they and the Panthers were already in town. Not sure if the city or the league made the decision.

My husband is very anti-snow blower. Claims he loves the mindless workout of shoveling. And while both of our offices are closed, he is still expected to work and is on conference calls all day. So guess who gets stuck going out there?? I'm already sick of shoveling and I've barely started!
If the hubbie is blocking the path to easier snow removal, then sorry, but he should own getting it done!

Some coastal towns are really getting battered by flooding. Very scary images coming out of Scituate, Winthrop, and elsewhere. And bad news for fans of the Barnacle and the Landing in Marblehead and Woodmans and CK Pearl in Essex.

I was snow blowing this evening around my house in Wollaston Quincy and I took a ruler and measured 14 inches in my driveway.

I'm surprised by all of the school cancellations tomorrow.

When I was in HS - 1995-1999 - I recall one two-day snow day in four years. In my entire life really.

Now it seems like all the schools do it all the time.

I think it's pretty soft. It stopped snowing at 6:00 where I am. Wake up in the morning and go to school. Towns have all night to clean it up.

Many parents now have to miss work again and possibly lose money they can't afford to lose. In other areas, many children would be safer at school.

Or we just didn't have snow and cold in the 90's. Must have been Clinton's magic touch.

Yes, I saw some of that in the news. Hope most of these people in the affected areas have insurance, because it looks like they are getting hit hard.

The biggest thing with this particular storm and tomorrow's closing is that the temperature is going to crash. That combined with the fact that the snow didn't end until about 8:00 will make it dangerous for kids who walk to school, because a lot of the sidewalks won't be clear. Apparently, this storm is going to require a few days of clean-up for most towns, and that's why they're closing tomorrow. We are, after all, having a record cold spell by various measures, so it isn't just wimpiness.

Thanks for that - looks like we wound up getting what was forecasted. It's still dark, but I know the snow berm at the road is pretty high, and there's still a lot of winter left! ;-)
