Few people mention looking into Worcester. Only downside is heard it snows a lot in Worcester and crime is am issue (Could easily live in the suburbs.)

Love Salem area but seems wicked expensive!!! We prefer housing $300K or less for a 2bdrm. Can always rent for a little. Yes enjoy Salem & Marblehead. Do have to explore Cape Ann area a little. In Salem the school has an LPN to BSN program that works for the Wife.

Wife feels Berkshires are too far from the Ocean and too quiet.

Don't mind the Pioneer Valley outside of snow and very little water activities near by; though could be wrong!

Wife does like the South Shore, but feel it is a little rural. Have to explore more!

Appreciate the awesome feedback so far!
I would also look hard at the seacoast region of NH if you have some flexibility on location, especially since you seem to like the outdoors. It's cheaper up there and very nice. I would especially recommend Dover, Newmarket and Exeter - all 3 are river towns with a walkable downtown. There are good hospitals in Dover and Exeter, and Newmarket is a smaller town between them. Durham is between Newmarket and Dover and has the main campus of UNH. 5 rivers drain into the Great Bay and Little Bay, which makes it a beautiful area for kayaking. The beaches of Rye are beautiful and close to any of these towns. Portsmouth is too expensive to live in, but you can easily visit from any of those towns - it's more city-ish, and has become an upscale city in the past couple of decades.

P.S. And if you work and live in NH, there is no state income tax to be paid :-) ...though there will be higher real estate taxes generally

Dartmouth, MA area

Maybe not a hub of healthcare but several Southcoast Health and Steward locations.

I can’t believe the town suggestions for a fresh-out-of-college guy with no children. Lexington??????? Unless the guy has a huge inheritance or a wealthy wife, or both.

The problem is:
"Looking at moving due to Mass being a much larger State with more job opportunities."

The OP can certainly find an LPN to BSN program for Mrs OP at UMass-Dartmouth. Or Salve in Newport which has a much better program if they can get admitted. You can find a house for $300K though it's kind of slim pickings now at the top of the market. The 1970 starter homes sell for sub-$300 but likely a ranch on a slab; or something small and older that needs some work. It's a $10 mill rate so that's a $3,000 property tax bill.

There are health care jobs like everywhere else but we don't know what kind of work the OP would be looking for. From Dartmouth, the high paying Boston jobs and vibrant job market are an extreme commute.

*LOL* I noticed those too. Unfortunately, most of eastern MA is not in scope - as one of the most expensive markets in the nation. No one can really move into this area without significant accessible money in assets or a 6-figure salary. Ideally both.

If you want good public transportation, I would prefer Arlington. As you get closer to Boston-Cambridge area, the public transportation is more useful. Winchester has commuter rail, but the frequency is more like half-hour to an hour in duration.
It is better to choose towns have subways.
Boston is nice if you avoid Roxbury, Dorchester, or Mattapan due to higher rate of shooting, but it's nothing compared to Oakland where you have average of 100 murders per year. Boston area is actually one of the safest metro area in the nation.

Weather is pretty consistent throughout reason except South Shore and Cape Cod is cooler in summer and warmer in the winter. When it is snowing in Boston, it is usually raining down in Cape and Islands. If you want to do less shoveling in winter, Cape and South Shore is the place for you.
Hey don’t knock Dorchester! There are areas where it’s quite lovely such as Adams Village/Lower mills/Cedar Grove which teeters on Milton. We are close to South Boston which offers Castle Island and beaches. Lived here all my life and always stayed around the Carney Hospital. Lots of new condos and big rental properties which I totally think suck but seem to be great for young professionals and those who can spending $3k for
Monthly rent (by JFK station). More neighborhood shops and restaurants are opening up by Lower Mills and Adams Village also. We are also very close to Logan airport and Uber from Cambridge is about 10 bud when pooling.
