A crazy lady wanted a spoon for a tiny sample of soup at New England Soup Factory.

Wow! This really went viral. I saw the owner's post about this on Facebook this morning. I just want to add two things here:

1. In her Facebook post the owner stated that the police couldn't figure out who the driver of the car was because it was leased . . . WHAT?!?!?! That doesn't make any sense.

2. Having eaten the delicious soup at this restaurant many, many, many times and having tried samples before buying on occasion I can tell you that these samples are like little cups of hot lava. Absolutely, you have never seen such hot soup in your life and throwing even a small amount of it at someone's face could absolutely cause serious harm IMO.

I can imagine.

Would a spoon even fit in the sample cup?

No. It is utterly asinine to ask for a spoon with a sample cup. The woman who did this is clearly mentally ill.

There are two sides to every story and the truth often lies somewhere in the middle. While throwing hot soup at another person is clearly unacceptable, if you watch the video the owner of the shop appears to be ranting and getting very aggressive. We don't see what preceded that. Let's be careful about labelling people as mentally ill, as that's not a joking matter to some of us.

It's some kind of anger control issue and inability to act appropriately in a social situation. That is a subset of mental health.

Stop trying to justify antisocial behavior. It doesn't matter what was said leading up to the incident, throwing something in another person's face isn't an appropriate response. Period. The end.

Yes, the owner is acting unprofessional but you can't throw hot liquid in someone's face. What if their eyes were scalded? The customer's anger if out of proportion to what ever "damage" she's suffered.
